This song is the only show-able result of my inspiration to write a science fiction short story. As I naturally lean towards songs, that inspiration became this instead of a finished story. Fortunately, nothing is ever finished, so there's still a chance for the story.
lyrics
I'm a satellite
Spinning for my life
Running for cover
From the meteorites
I'm just a machine
Spinning out of your reach
Lost in the battle
I'm losing against your gravity
The pull of your gravity
A never setting sun
Spewing radiation
Pulsing a signal
Swearing
That I'm the only one
I'm just a machine
Spinning out of your reach
Lost in the battle
I'm losing against your gravity
The pull of your gravity
I'm just a machine
Spinning out of your reach
Lost in the battle
I'm losing against your gravity
I'm still just a man
Doing all that I can
To eek out a living
This galaxy's taking it out on me
I am what I am
Gonna sing it again
Lost in the battle
I'm losing against your gravity
The pull of your gravity
